the blog of a bear

this is where a bear will post stuff.

ODSP

a reminder about this blogs policies.

April 8, 2011 by stickbear 1 Comment

This post is especially aimed at the folks at the ontario disability support program but will serve as a reminder to those of you that have forgotten.
I hereby will remind you that this is my personal blog, and the opinions, are my own, or those of the individuals that have posting privillidges, and as stated
over on this post.
content is not being removed because you feel threatened, or we make light of your stupidity.
This comes in light of a phone call myself and james received after speaking to the cornwall office of the ontario disability support program.
In light, basically because of james post over
here
wherein he states

I have a sneaking suspicion one of us is going to come away bloody. And I’ll be quite damned if it’s gonna be me.

If we dare to show up their on Monday, the police will be involved.
Ok, I might have worded the above quoted segment a little more professionally, but hey, you’ll have that, not my blog, so what the fuck.

In other words, James post stated his view, and his opinion on a situation, and now ODSP, has decided in their infinent wisdom, that we dare show up monday, they’re gonna call the police because they feel threatened.
I will not change the way I post, nor will I ask those who post here as guest authors, or as commenters to sensor what they
say for the eago or the feelings of one organization or individual.
You have the right to not read this blog, and I remind you to excersise that right, and keep the wining about how I’m a threat to you because of my opinion, over their in that corner.
I will quote the ppolicy that is on the top of every page on this blog, including this one in the event you can’t read, or simply skipped it.

The opinions expressed on this blog are my own, or are the opinions of those who have posting rights to this blog, or are the opinions of respective commenters to individual posts, and do not reflect any other person, organization, entity or other such things.
Unless required by canadian and/or US law, entries and/or comments are posted as is, and will not be removed for any reason, nor will the opinions be edited to fit one person’s eago or because their hurt by our opinion of them.
you have the ability to not read this blog, excersise that right. that simple.

and this just rolled across my desk, so bounce on over
here
and enjoy that thing to, k?
Thank you for your time, and now, back to that witch is not cluing the stupid, or maybe not, but whatever. This post is done.

and here we go again, the ontario government breaking the budgit.

March 30, 2011 by stickbear Leave a Comment

So as I posted
yesterday
I’m dealing with more financial problems and could write a friggen book about it.
Now, we see the ontario government has decided that
causing even more upheavel
is the order of the day.

Carey Lynn Asselstine, who brought daughter Natalie to Queen’s Park on Tuesday, expressed disappointment the Ontario budget did not include new money to address rising child-care fees.
RENE JOHNSTON/TORONTO STAR
Laurie Monsebraaten
Social Justice Reporter
For Toronto welfare recipient Tracy Mead, the one per cent increase in social assistance announced in Tuesday’s provincial budget was a “slap in the face.”
“They say they are giving us a raise, but it’s not. It is barely keeping up with the cost of living,” says the 45-year-old woman who was forced to give up her overnight security job three years ago due to ill health.
About 550,000 Ontarians on social assistance, including about 260,000 on Ontario Works and 290,000 on the Ontario Disability Support Program are expected to receive the increase next fall, according to the budget.
The meagre increase amounts to an extra $6 for Mead who now gets the maximum $592 a month on Ontario Works. A single person on the Ontario Disability Support Program who currently receives up to $1,053 per month will get an additional $11.
Mead is one of thousands of Ontarians who have been urging Queen’s Park to “put food in the budget” by introducing a $100 monthly healthy food supplement for people on welfare.
The lack of new measures to help the 1.3 million Ontarians living in poverty was “disappointing,” for anti-poverty activist and former welfare recipient Mike Creek.
However, he said activists are grateful the province earlier this month reversed its 2010 budget decision to scrap the Special Diet Allowance of up to $250 per month for people on welfare with food-related health issues.
Low- to moderate-income families and single people will get help to better manage household budgets through a consolidation of three quarterly tax credits into a single monthly benefit, the budget said.
The new Ontario Trillium Benefit, worth about $2.4 billion annually, combines the Ontario Sales Tax Credit, the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit and the Northern Energy Credit.
The new monthly benefit will take effect in July 2012.
Eligibility for the credits remains the same, but it will “smooth out the bumpy quarterly payments” into a single monthly benefit to be delivered by cheque or bank deposit, said a provincial official.
For example, a single parent with one child and a net income of $20,000, paying $629 per month in rent, would see eight payments totalling $936 annually converted to a monthly benefit of $78.
A senior couple with a net household income of $35,000, paying $1,200 per month in rent, would receive $82 per month under the scheme.
Social policy expert John Stapleton praised the new monthly payments as “the beginning of a core base benefit outside the welfare system for single people.”
About 530,000 low-income families with children under 18 already receive the monthly Ontario Child Benefit, worth up to $92 per month, per child.
Child care advocates were disappointed the budget did not include new money to address rising fees, service cuts and daycare closings as a result of chronic underfunding and the introduction of full-day kindergarten.
“There is a limit to how much a young family can afford to pay for child care,” said new mother Carey Lynn Asselstine, who brought her 4-month-old daughter Natalie to Queen’s Park Tuesday.
Asselstine, who will return to work in September, will be paying $60 a day or $15,000 annually for licensed child care.
“We want a high quality program, but my husband and I question whether we could ever afford to have a second child,” she said.

Now you people wonder why I want a job and the fuck off the government checks?
1% increase…. that’s maybe $10 if your lucky, and that’s pushing it.

Yeah, I’m lazy.
Deal with it.
I’ve been back on this side of the boarder, for what, almost a month.
in list format, because I’m just to goddamn lazy, and expanding thoughts undercafinated is not how I roll, oh, and because I can.

  • I returned from the states march 3, 2011.< relatively in tact, sanity not withstanding. Surf the blog in february for the few blog posts pertaining to it.
  • Came back to more ODSP horseshit, that will see the light of day when I’m not lazy and can form a comprehensive blog post on the stupid. short version, hi questionaire that attempted to say
james and I were married. um, how about, not. That reminds me, I need to sign that, scan it and get it the hell back to the office.
  • More hospital related garbage, we think I’ve got a depression issue, but, that’s right, my health plan won’t cover meds to help me that don’t break my brain. now, where’d that money tree go?
  • I’m attempting to figure out relationship related things, partially due to depression, and partially other shit, that multiple people got the result of spued all over their monitors, thanks
    simon
    Kyra
for dealing with the majority of it. I know it probably made your computers explode, but that’s ok, their’s the money tree, right? um, no. lol.
  • The hockey posts? knowing I haven’t posted a damn one since february 13, the short version, we suck, fuck off, and die, sums up the majority of those games. So, we’ll just forgo the spam that’ll happen if I attempt to catch up, k? sound like a good idea? yeah, that’s what I thought.
  • james mother is still of the opinion I don’t need ibuprofen, as advol is the same, and my specialist really really wants to slap her upside the head with something blunt. as me, and you all, probably know, when my specialist, (or now nearly my full time doctor, but more on that in another entry, maybe.), says bounce, this is what you need, it probably means get it and STFU. their are certain parental figures that need to learn the art of your not my doctor, she is, either help me get what I need or get the goddamn hell outta my way, k?

that, in squished format, is me.
Now, where the hell’s the money tree, and the cafinated beverages.

a small note to hamilton dweebs. wanna try that again?

January 11, 2011 by stickbear 2 Comments

Oh god, the stupid strikes again.
So on a wim I dial up the ODSP IVR, the thing that tells me how much money I’m getting, or not getting, depending on your side of the fence, and get simarily told your file’s currently on hold.
after the appropriate amount of WTF happens, I ping my ODSP worker and go, last time I checked my file was fine, what the hell’s going on.
in list format have these appropriate amount of wtf results.
According to certain individuals I’m supposedly, ready?:

  1. Married to krista.
  2. We have a child on the way because I supposedly had unprotected sex.
  3. I moved down their perminantly and didn’t report that to ODSP.

firstly, how the hell can I be married to krista when we’re not even engaged?
Secondly, a child? seriously? how the hell’d that happen, from 400 miles away? that’d have to be one long ass dick, ok? just… omg.
Thirdly? moved down their? really? except not. Wishful thinking, but sadly, didn’t happen.
So the result of that, kathy, my worker, now has to issue appropriate amounts of clue to get this fixed, and attempt to not die while laughing.
Kathy indicates this little implosion that is the stupid should be fixed by friday at the *latest*.
I was highly amused, in a, are you fuckin’ serious? kinda way.
The lengths some people will go to.
just, jesus christ.
Please do be not trying that again. You’ll fail, again.
unrelated: CNIB? *totally* blind is just that, totally, 0, no, sight, so take your low vision assessment and shove it up your ass. it’s not needed in this apartment. thanks for trying, though.

another reason I hate ODSP.

January 4, 2011 by stickbear Leave a Comment

So as previously posted here, on an as needed bases I’m either crutch or wheelchair bound, depending on the situation/how much my left knee wishes to flip me off.
Initially, ODSP, paid for my first set of crutches, back in July.
Due to circumstances, etc. I’m needing to replace these crutches, ok, ring up my case worker and go, here’s the situation, can ODSP help?
She hims and haws, then chucks me on hold.
Comes back and goes, well because it’s been less than a year, we won’t pay for replacements.
In short, ODSP fails, at life, again.
I have to cough up the money to pay for the replacements.
so, ODSP, Thanks for nothing, bastards.
related: my US helth ensurance won’t cover them either, so fuck you to.
related part II: before you ask, the family won’t help either, so don’t even bother going there.

can I just forget about monday?

December 7, 2010 by stickbear Leave a Comment

So monday started out all right.
The usual amount of nothing was scheduled to happen, except a few random calls to bitchslap people around that james and I had to make, not to tarrible, right?
you’d think so, until I have to ring up ODSP and hit them upside the head with knew information.
This goes all right, until it’s determined that their is no rent information on file for me, and I have until Friday, to get it in, if I don’t their not gonna issue the shelter cost.
Just fuckin’ spactacular.
I attempt to explain to the case worker, this can’t happen this way, we need more time, but can I give you the numbers verbally and fax or drop off to you in person next week with the proof of information, as this is how I got it done at the old address.
my reasoning I don’t have reliable transportation out to pembroke this week to get the information to you.
Of course not, legally she can’t do it, I shouldn’t have done it that way at the old address, etc. etc. etc.
Ok, fine, then can you send someone out here to pick up the information, as this has been done this way before, of course not.
So
james
gets involved and says, well all the information you needs in my file, can you use that until we can get in next week with the paperwork.
This is a no go to, so we finally get sick and tired of dealing with this person, and i call back and promptly request the manager of the district, without preamble.
I get shot to renfrue, the little smaller hicktown the opposit side of pembroke.
We determine after some checking that OK, I’m in the right spot, but the managers not in and won’t be until tomorrow, but is their something I can do for you.
The receptionist is sympathetic to the issues I’m raising and gets me calmed down from blowup stage to explain that yes, their doing their jobs, but no, them not accomidating you knowing the situation wasn’t right, and I was within my rights to call and speak to the district manager.
So I get put through to the manager’s voicemail, and have left one novel of a message.
After this is done, we now wait.
Will I get my full check this month? who the hell knows.
This has made up both mine and
james
mind that we are moving back to ottawa, for the simple fact that little hicktown dumps like here aren’t condoossive to gett anything resembling sensable done.
Related: we reached phil and hit him with a clue by 4 to get at least that portion of the paperwork started, but we’ll see where that ghoes.
Monday was made of suck fail and blow. that is all.
